Krutoj, I sure wish you would elaborate on that Amex/Esso deal like I asked you last week. I could find no info.

I filled up yesterday for 107.9 at Esso in Mississauga. But with current AMEX/ESSO promo it costs me 75% of that, 80.9 cents.

TGPT email at 5:23 PM Wednesday says a 2 cent increase to 114.9. Best to top up tonight. Might be 111.9 but I would never trust them!

680 news predicting a 2 cent increase - to 114.9??? Most places I saw were 109.9, so will tomorrow's price be 111.9 or all the way to 114.9? I wish they would check the current price before making their "predictions".

TGPT asleep at the switch in Mississauga and elsewhere as the price was supposed to be 112.9. Dropped to 109.9. Then they predicted a drop for Thursday and as Miron noted 2 cent increase for Thursday predicted by 680 News. This afternoon I bought for 103.3 on Major Mackenzie between Yonge and 400. Prices are all over the map!!

Of course there's been no change for the last 5 days, they are scoring large on the jacked up prices. Pirates, all of them and a pox on their houses.

Thanks Limegremlin, luckily that station is selling by 2.3 cents lower, so I could say that I lost only 0.7 cents if I want to stay positive :)

PnnyPnchr,

Good to see you, my friend.

I didn't think you were 'stirring the pot', just posting an article. Must say though, I don't believe a thing any ex- politician (or present day politician) has to say. lol

It probably evens out over a few years of long weekends, esp. when governments release some into the market.

Using the Eco feature on the Honda to see if it help with mileage. Call me a skeptic. ;-)

of course the price will hold steady, we are now into the long weekend, up 2 cents the last couple of days with lots of folks travelling. Bunch of greedy jerks.
Miron sorry to hear Petro screwed you over. Most businesses as a rule don't always lets you double dip so to speak. However....I hear ya.

Limegremlin, you are right: Petro are cheaters... they refused to give me the 3 cents discounts because I already have my 5 cents discount card! Can not be combined... like that 5 cents are a favor... I did earned those points and redeemed them for that purpose... I could not believe... so the guy show me his instruction sheet...

The oil companies just can't help themselves on long weekends as a general rule.
Next long weekend isn't till Aug though. July 1st is on a Wed (I'm off the Monday) so that don't count.

krutoj, I searched redflagdeals for "amex" and "esso" and found no relevant information. More details please?

.. and I apologize for "stirring the pot" earlier. Looks like prices did go up a penny. Next long weekend we shall see ...

TGPT email at 8:!2 AM Friday says a 1 cent increase to 112.9 on Saturday. Don't know why they bother with 3 and 4 day predictions which are no longer given. This week's 7 day prediction was wrong also, unless it drops to 109.9 on Sunday. Fat chance of that happening.

Lime Gremlin: Petro Canada is giving us a 3 cent reduction per litre on the officially posted sign until June 15th. I just show them my Petro Points card. Have stopped going up to Dixie/Shawson area as the price is the same at local Petro stations. Have a great day! tramguy

I dumped my use of PetroCanada years ago when they no longer decided they wanted to have their own credit card. I'd had one for many many years and was a very loyal customer.

So f...k 'em.

Tramguy, if you are around South Common Mall, that Petro is always 2.3 cents cheaper in the afternoon... because there is a Pioneer next intersection with that price...

Thanks Miron for posting that info. I found out yesterday that Petro was giving a discount. I used to go up to Dixie/Shawson area for a drive at night but now I go to a Petro closer at home at Bloor and Dixie.

So much for my earlier post (May 11th) where TGPT said the price would fall on Thursday. Also they changed the one week sneak peak from 70% drop to 60% rise. So much for their prognostications! One day at a time, my mother used to say!

I'm going to stir the pot a little here. Personally, I've noticed that sometimes prices go up, sometimes down, sometimes remain steady before a long weekend, no different from any other weekend. We only remember the times that the price goes up!

Here is a study of the topic, by MJ Earvin. Even McTeague is mentioned in the article, and agrees.

Do gas stations gouge customers before long weekends?
