At 3 PM, 680 says no change and TGPT says a decrease but is keeping it a secret!

Maybe the government should take over this site? No, on second thought, they would have trouble organizing a one man band. Lol. Before the fire at Nanticoke, in February 2007, I would always buy gas after 10 PM as the price kept falling during the day, as much as 10 cents a litre. The good old days! With regards to criticism and "free" information, the former is part of life when the latter is questionable. The owners of this website are probably raking in good money through advertisements. Have a great day!

Okee Dokee --- If you saved 76 cents (ie your tank took only 38 litres), that's fine. But now multiply that by the savings for the year, multiplied by the 6 - 7 years the site has operated - im guessing several hundred dollars. Not your average site, especially since it probably saves more , attleast for Toronto motorists than GB itself.

Still I agree with the idea that something is amiss over at TGPT. Seems to have started when they did their early next day predictions ... ie a couple of hours before ummm 680 !! lol

I never rely on e-mails especially from free websites. Why do you expect that somebody will send you an email for service you do not pay for and it could seize to exist at any time???? Even pay sites screw up emial communication so why not FREE one???
Why do you guys criticize so much and expect 'reliable service' from free site - site which exist just because somebody has way to much time on their hands or tries to make money form the ads?
Checking their web site yesterday at 21:00 I saved 76 cents. Thank you, but if such site disappears I will continue to buy gas when I need it and will not stop driving and wait help from above (or below).

There is Tramguy -- its right on their homepage. Apparently the emailers arent working. TGPT is encouraging people to click to the right amount of the change for tomorrow.

Well, well, well! All those 680 news haters, I have a nice dish of crow for all of you! lol. 680 1, TGPT 0! In previous two entries, I documented how 680 forecasted a decrease for today and TGPT said no change. On their website now at 2:30 PM, they say prices will increase in much of Canada. No figures given. Check late tonight for their forecast. There is nothing in the 2 day forecast. Two day is Monday and no increase and the same for three days on Tuesday.

We paid 127.9 at Owen Sound Shell this Tuesday, but today same station was up to 134.9! Go figure.

First time in months the next day's price has been posted in the afternoon. Try Saturdays sometime. Lucky to get it by 10 PM. Oh, yes, the price is down one cent Friday. How benevolent, how kind, how patronizing of big oil!

AMEX 2% cash back has yearly fee of $99. So you pay $99 ++ Costco membership and then you spend your life living in a car - well you might get even.
$250 a month for gas is around 2300-2500km/month mixed driving. A lot of money for cards/membership and a lot of driving to get few bucks back???

Krutoj, there's no way I ever spend that much on gas ;-)

I posted that because not everyone is (or wants to be) a Costco member.

The area bounded by Keele, St Clair, Jane, and Dundas has always been cheaper than the rest. Even "name brand" is 2¢ less. It is one of the few areas in the GTA where independent stations still exist, not forced out of business by "big oil" predatory pricing tactics. I suppose this is what's happening in Brampton.

PnnyPnchr: Good for those in Jane/St.Clair, now I can see 130.2 there!
If you have AMEX with 2% cashback, Costco is still the best bet (currently 129.9 in Etobico-Mississauga). Membership will be paid off with rebate if you spend $250 a month for gas :)

I've seen as low as 130.5 in the Jane->Runnymede / St Clair area. No membership required there either! But some don't take all credit cards especially Amex (I get a 2% cash back for buying gas).

I've been filling up recently at the Husky at Dixie and Shawson when I am almost empty. Their price and CTC (crappy hours) is usually 3 cents below the going rate. I combine the trip from my home near Bloor and Cawthra with other shopping.

Yeah. It looks like Some station have special prices for general public. There is one Petro-Can in Richmond Hill which sometimes have 2-5 cents lower than the official price. Unfortunately when you calculate gas needed to get there and back you are even so it is not worth driving. Unless you bring few canisters to fill them up...

Most stations are at 135.9 today, but 131.2 at Brampton North! No lineups and no membership required at Petro-Canada Hurontario/Mayfield. Bought just half a tank, expecting a drop below 130 very soon!

Hondalover, here is the entire quote concerning discounted gas:

"Q: If the price on the sign is $2.279/86.99 but the station offers a 3¢ discount to 2.249/83.99, which one should I list?

A: When entering prices for stations that provide discounts (ie, Member Prices, Price With Car Wash, Price After Store Purchase, etc.) we ask that the price be listed BEFORE any discount. The discount price may be entered in the provided Comments field, however; a comment is not absolutely required.

If you do add that information to the Comments field, please make it like this: "-3¢ with member card", or "-3¢ with car wash".

If the station doesn't sell to the general public at all, then it's okay to post its members-only price. An optional comment can be left saying "Members only", however; the comment is not an absolute requirement."

ps - I don't often buy food at Costco, but if I do their pharmacy is cheap too (only $3.89 filling fee) so I can buy statins etc to lower my cholesterol ;-)
Also, you do NOT have to be a member to use their pharmacy so you can save the membership fee.

OK, I did not know that this site allows posting of special prices.

Meaning I can report that I paid Today 133.9 for regular at Petro? I still think this is not correct but I will not continue this bickering as there is no point.

Against Costco? No comment. Mind you, 80% of americans are overweight or obese. Enjoy cheap genetically modified junk food.

HondaLover, you are in error. There are many gasbuddies who buy gas at Costco. Why should they not know the price? I don't understand what axe you have to grind against Costco.

Once again I will ask you to consult the gasbuddy FAQ section.
And I quote, once again,
"If the station doesn't sell to the general public at all, then it's okay to post its members-only price. An optional comment can be left saying "Members only", however; the comment is not an absolute requirement."

krutoj - there is no point mentioning members' prices. I mentioned many times that Costco's price is not valid as it is available to MEMBERS only. What will happen if people start reporting privileged prices of $1/liter for 'special' groups, $0.50/lit for discounted price if you buy certain car, etc. etc.
Costco price is NOT Valid as it is not available for EVERYBODY.

No matter what, good for you for getting such good price. But it comes with the cost: membership fee, buying american genetically modified food, overeating, etc.

I had to fill up yesterday, 135.9 at Costco, they still at the same price today. I don't think they will match a 2c decrease. Long weekend is looming.

The stations here in Brampton all went up to 142.9 early yesterday morning, but then around 9 am went back to 1.41.9 ... The plot thickens .... today's drop was done as TGPT indicated... but 20 cents would be welcomed :-)
