I think we should convert to cheaper, not necessarily renewable fuel, such as propane. It's almost a necessity to convert, with gas going through 132.9¢/L in the city. Propane, in comparison, is 76.9¢/L (6 Years ago it was 9¢/L). But you can't totally convert to propane if you need lots of power. Propane isn't something for power.

It is cheaper though, I recommend it for some usage.

Any suggestions?

Just depends on the size of the tank and how you drive it!

Tanks seem to be very small which means short range.

CaptSquid is right, it's not renewable. But, propane powered vehicles can and do in some cases run hydrogen, nitrous, natural gas, methane, etc. There's a variety of power sources available to choose from and we should move ahead with them all. And yes, the people who have their natural gas powered Hondas are quite happy with them and perhaps I can get one prominent one to come here and join us. And it's only slightly cheaper right now. More of them on the road will drive the price of that commodity up as well. That's why we need to do more all the way around. Drill and produce more, improve upon efficiency, more alternative energy sources, etc. Can't do it all from electric, then we'll have a real electric crisis and we're on the verge of that as well. We need 25 mew electric plants, or so they say. Only a few are under construction from what I've heard and read and two are nuclear. Too many special interest groups stopping it like they stopped additional drilling and the Democrats more so than the Republicans are responsible for that. Republicans are responsible for other problems too! We're allowing ourselves to be shafted. We have to do more all the way around. Including getting the 60% or so that waste nearly 10% of their fuel everyday to stop wasting it! That 10% comes out to roughly 540,000 barrels of gas a day. Anyone care to tell me how much oil that is for a gold star? Or maybe if you're in the area, I'll buy you lunch! We can sit and talk and have some green tea while we're at it.

Look here to learn more about propane.
Read it through. It voices quite a bit of support for propane(aka Autogas).

Look here to learn more about propane supporters and why you should support propane. Ford Propane Truck! Wow!

This should change your mind about propane.
Propane also is a clean-burning fuel.

Propane comes from the petroleum refinement industry. It is NOT renewable.

Propane is also very poor for gas mileage.
