Hey Johnny -- your state thread is here if you have any resources to pass along. This is a weird place; we have a naysayer amongst us whose basis of jumping in to naysay is apparently the effects of drinking gasoline. Weird stuff (then again- "elude to"? I think he's *already* drinking the stuff :-P )

goldseeker, I'm not the one that tells people to "take a swig" of the fuel they use in their vehicles. I believe you are the only one that uses that line...
As for drinking fuel, no I am not interested in drinking "alcohol" or gasoline"... But you please keep drinking the high grain stuff, just don't drive afterwards...

Reb4, If you can't take the opposing view, than put your head in the sand and put everyone you disagree with on ignore... fine with me!
No I do not take a swig before I fill up. I could, but I generally do not do that. However, I have taken a swig of 190 proof grain ethanol. That is about as pure as you can get. And I am still standing today. Local shine is about 170 proof plus.
Would you care to take a swig of that wonderful purrrrrre gasoline that you so often praise?

"Don't they have to pretty much rebuild the engines in these cars after every race? "
That has nothing to do with ethanol. NASCAR and INDY cars have big dollar backing and get new engines every race. The lower budget racers run the same engine an entire season.

"2amy...you are so right! Nascar is racing with E15 and the Indy cars are racing with E85. Pure ethanol is 113 octane so mixing ethanol with gas gives you and octane boost!"

so Goldseeker, lets get this straight. You put pure ethanol in your tank to get fuel up to 20 - 30 % ethanol content, is that what you are saying? (which is 20 - 30 % ethanol and 80 - 70% gasoline or ... e0).
Do you take a swig before you fill, or after, do you give some to the vehicle and some to you and that accounts for the variance of 20 - 30 % ethaol content?
By the way, Your perception of "truth" is just that. Your perception...

I fill up with 20-30% ethanol every time I get the chance. I will soon trade for a new ffv focus and use e85 on a regular basis.
That pure gasoline that you and your cronies elude to is anything but pure. At least I can drink a shot of ethanol, but surely not that pure concoction you call gasoline. That stuff is so toxic that even if you get it on you skin it will cause a rash. Spill it in your yard. LOL. Grass will not grow there for a long time.
Gasoline is loaded with noted carcinogens benzene, toluene, and xylene. These same additives have a poor compatibility rating with elastomers that gasket material and seals are made of.
If you cannot handle the truth, then hit the ignore button!

Indy and NASCAR may be running ethanol, but I bet it is no where close to what you can buy at the stations. They also have the time, money and staff to build an engine to run the way they want it to run on ethanol. Something the average person cannot do.

I will be honest with you. I am not sure if ethanol is better but it is a fuel alternative.
If for trying it out its being done now. The Nascar circuit is using it in High performance cars.
