Just imagine all of the millions of people who have the energy and resolve to go to church weekly (or more), pray constantly, donate funds to support the infrastructure of the church, etc. Now imagine that all of these people were atheists. They could funnel all of that passion, creativity, energy, money, etc., into improving the world, and its inhabitants.

Now THAT'S heaven.

There are plenty of secular charities, Guitar_Man. Since atheists don't waste time grouping together, we just do good things. We don't demand attention for it, either.

Yes, it's wonderful to go down to parts of Colorado Springs where most people won't go because of the meth houses and crime and homeless people and see all the good athiests feeding them and giving them clothing and shelter.

Oh wait, that's the Salvation Army, Goodwill, Methodists, Catholics, and many other "evil" religious people.

Kinda strange how we don't find "Athiest Charities" in the yellow pages, now, isn't it?

Don't pat yourself on the back too hard, wonton, you might hurt yourself and need a Christian to pray for you....

Years ago, when we first bought our home and went to church, I recall the Church elders constantly asking for money for 'the roof fund'.

Seeing as our own roof was needing replacing, I kept thinking 'we have our own roof fund to take care of first'.

Seems the Church we married in, always has a 'fund' that needs topping up......bet it still does.

We haven't attended regularly for years. I go at Christmas, but to the one across the road....it has a much better Christmas Carol service and I love Christmas Carols. lol

Sorry - most churches are supporting massive debts based solely on their structure, infrastructure, and staffing. You're the only misinformed. I live surrounded by something like 10-20 churches in one square mile, and they all have mortgages on their buildings amounting to thousands, some of them tens-of-thousands of dollars every month. Add to that the staffs of dozens - to - hundreds of people, and you can see that these are multi-multi-million dollar enterprises that require massive sums of money simply to EXIST much less take in extra moneys to distribute to the needy.

I believe you are mistakenly misinformed. Soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, Christian funds slated for overseas to feed the impoverished, etc. That's where the majority of funds go. Our church is held in a town hall so there is no infrastructure cost except for a measly weekly rent. Part of our weekly offering goes to the local food pantry. If all the atheists would funnel their energy used to remove religion, especially Christianity from all aspect of life and instead use that energy to improve the world and it's in habitants....
