Pick any country in the MIddle East and they have ALWAYS been ready to go to war with Israel.

But give us the specific prophecies you're referring to and let's see how accurate they are when looked at by others.

Actually tanker, Christians haven't been around for quite 2 thousand years yet.

It's one of the youngest religions.

When scientists finally scale the mountain of truth, they will discover that Christians have been there for thousands of years.

Thanks Cookie. I was trying to give an example of my own "muddled thinking" during my more formative years. You made my point much better than I.

aressess, your second paragraph is a fine example of muddled thinking. It isn't science that claims to have all the answers. It's all the religions that claim they have the *truth*. And of course oxygen existed before 1772, no one ever claimed it didn't! But it was scientists who discovered that there were many more elements than Earth, Air, Wind and Fire - oxygen being only one of them.

Most scientists freely admit they do not have all the answers and never will. Every new discovery leads to more knowledge and more discoveries.

I was born into a Christian home, went to church & Sunday School. Belief was ingrained. But when I added reason to my thought process, I came to believe that all this "god stuff" was hogwash. It couldn't be explained by science.

Then, some personal experiences showed me that maybe science doesn't have all the answers. For example, a Google search tells me that Oxygen was discovered in 1772. So, in 1771 and before, did Oxygen exist? Science would have said "no." Maybe you believe this argument is invalid because science is now advanced enough that it does have all the answers. I, however, don't believe so.

These personal experiences led me to read about the subconscious mind. There is a wealth of material on beliefs and others' personal experiences which, although all are different, retain some elements of commonality. This has led me to believe that there is a greater existence for us, both before and after this current life. There is a being which is directing all of this. I believe that our brains are purposely wired to not understand it; but that we have to take it on faith.

Pkmanca2012, read my last two sentences. The onus is on you to provide proof.

Welcome to the Atheism Forum Pkmanca2012.

First, let's clear up your biggest misunderstanding. Atheists do not say there is/are no god or gods; just that there is no reasonable reason to believe.
There is no way to prove a negative. I can no more prove that your god doesn't exist than you can prove Zeus isn't real.
