Hmmm I bet they're not the only ones. Maybe some of the cars get the good mileage and most don't, like the ones I end up with.

EPA / Cafe standards have long lost their connection to reality.

I am not one for 'more government intervention', but the epa was ALREADY supposed to be checking this. They fell down on it. I don't wanna see them adding more requirements or intervention... but rather just get back to doing what they were supposed to in the first place.

@Bill100 do u really believe in what u r saying? this would _only_ work if consumers have all the information and are all educated. which is only distant future ideal situation (if possible at all).
otherwise there would not be so many lawyers in the US.

Just what we need. More government oversight. Why not just let the markets rule? If one or more manufacturers is posting inaccurate numbers and consumers learn it, consumers stop buying their cars. They lose business and go to bed hungry. Why do we need government to say "You did wrong! Now we're going to give you a bunch of chances to do right." Market economics will eventually always dictate the ultimate pass or fail marks for any company. Regulation is an unnecessary expense and perhaps unlimited opportunities for forgiveness for companies.
All manufacturers need to do is to build a better mousetrap. Nothing more.

Soemthing needs to be done to keep the auto manufacturers - and any other industry - honest but the last thing we need is a further bloated federal government.

Once again the EPA demonstrates how inefficient a government run bureaucracy can be. I can hardly wait for the IRS to run ObamaCare.

Most people drive like their butt is on fire and then whine because they're not getting the mileage they should get. .... DUH!

Look for more fines imposed on all car makers. This is another way for the government to raise revenue (that will be passed on to the consumer) without calling it a tax.

well, they will give an apology and get away with it. and those who bought these cars just for the mileage would still feel being fooled.

Don't whine. You got 25 points for reading it again, and 20 points for whining about reading it again.

On a year round average my Prius is right on the estimated milage, Right at 50 MPG for the first 3 years. Better in warmer weather, less in cold. Very happy with it.

Obviously we need people to protect our environment. But the EPA is helping to ruin our country instead.
