Middletown Journal -- Area’s July 4 range could be $3.35-$3.50. 42 million Americans expected to be on roads for holiday.

A drop in oil prices has made gasoline cheaper just in time for the start of the summer road trip season.

The national average cost of a gallon was $3.47 Thursday, down 46 cents from its peak in early April. Some experts predicted it would dip to $3.30 by July 4, far from forecasts early in the year of $5 a gallon this summer.

Nice to have lower prices but we are still paying outrageous prices and the economy is far from recovering.

Good to see prices coming down. I suspect that Big Oil is trying to buy four more years of Obama.

Gas is down from $4 a gallon 2 weeks ago to $3.49 a gallon today... UH.... So why the 25% drop?!?! Or better yet, WHY THE 150% INFLATED PRICES TO START OFF WITH?!?!?!?!?!? We have been getting ripped off for so long, I actually heard some idiot say "$3.49 a gallon - what a deal!" I shook my head and commented "I remember gas at $1 a gallon", it was a long time ago, but not THAT long ago!!!

Hope they're right. Here in Canada all the gas stations have a bad habit of raising their prices just before the long weekends (or any weekend in the summer for that matter). We always filled up on Wed. or Thursday because by Friday it'd be way up.

To cut the pain it needs to stay at $2.00/gal for 5 years or more! Let the rich let the other 95% have some money!

Not even close to a relief. Basedallon on their own statistics, for every $10.00 change in oil is a $0.25 change in pump price. Did not apply when prices went up and does not apply now

You said it milespergallon right on

It's a joke.

We need to put the worst offender out of business no matter what they beg of us with discount gas after learning their lessen.

We need to kill a big player as consumers.
