GM Starts Making CNG Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra

Pickup Trucks -- On Thursday, GM announced that production of the bifuel versions of the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD are under way in Fort Wayne, Ind. The company has been taking orders from fleet and retail customers since April, and the pickup truckss can still be ordered through Chevy and GMC dealers.

The $11,000 upgrade allows the trucks to switch seamlessly between regular gas and compressed natural gas. The two tanks produce a combined range of 650 miles, the longest bifuel range of any original equipment automaker, GM says. The announcement comes just a few weeks after Ram started production of its bi-fuel Ram 2500.

Upgrade costs $11,000 – after market cost $2k to $3k with plenty of profit for the installer. GM big truck mentality, it seems nothing ever changes at GM. As more and more vehicles are built to use natural gas OR converted over to natural gas, more natural gas will be used and the price will go up, just like the morning sun. Don't expect natural gas to stay low for very long, the trend for all fuel prices is always up and up! It does Not matter if you have to heat your house with it either, higher natural gas prices coming. An article on here said that less natural gas is being produced because there is NO profit to keep drilling and producing natural gas when the prices are low. Less CNG Supply, Higher NatGas prices! Big Oil and Big Gas exports fuel and natural gas to other countries that will pay more for it, much more than here. There will be NO price reduction or cheaper prices for natural gas IN the US, so it does NOT matter how much crude oil or natural gas is produced. 'Coming out of the closet' Sneeky's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the 'jobs' are Not here. Sneeky's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continue to be down. People will still drive and buy fuel no matter what but it sure helps to have a job too! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! XII/XXII/MMXII!

A ¾ ton bifuel 4x4 crew cab pickup with a 6.5 foot bed would be of great interest to us. The 650 mile range is a big plus as well.
